When the Losers Club unite a final time to take down Pennywise for good, there’s no way that at the start of the film and through all its subsequent scares and horrors we could’ve guessed that the way to end his reign of terror was to simply undermine his self-confidence.

Pennywise is meant to be an all-powerful eater of worlds, but apparently when you subject him to some light ribbing he becomes so unhappy with himself that he literally shrinks and deflates like a huge, ugly beachball.

I guess somewhere in there there’s a hidden message about believing in yourself and not letting other people’s opinions take you down, but in this case bullying worked really great! So what I’ve learnt is that to make myself powerful I just need to make everyone else feel terrible - right?
