8 Huge Movie Actors Who Started Out As Extras
2. Jackie Chan
Before mastering the art of action comedy and earning widespread recognition and praise in both Western and Eastern cinema, Jackie Chan began as a child actor in films such as The Love Eterne and Big Little Wong Tin Bar in the early 60s.
Chan had further extra and minor roles at the start of the 70s and was signed to Chu Mu's Great Earth Film Company after his appearance in A Touch Of Zen.
When he was seventeen, he worked as a stuntman for another film and martial arts legend, Bruce Lee. On an episode of George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, Chan recounted how Lee accidentally whacked him in the face with a Jo stick on the set of Enter The Dragon and humorously played up to the 'injury'.
"I felt a little dizzy, but it's ok." Shortly after the director called cut "(Bruce Lee) just threw the two sticks down, turned around, saying 'Oh my god!'. He ran to me and lifted me saying 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry!'. And actually I'm not in pain anymore, because, you know, young guy like me: very tough. But suddenly - I don't know why - I pretend it's very painful. I just wanted Bruce Lee to hold me as long as he can."
