8 Iconic Movies You Didn't Know Stole Their Entire Plots

2. The Island Stole Its Plot From Clonus: The Body Parts

the-island A lot of people probably don't know that Michael "Blow It To Freakin' Pieces" Bay made The Island, and that's probably because it's surprisingly lacking in dog-humping sequences and scenes in which Megan Fox bends over objects with her ass pointed in the air. It's also a fairly intelligent film - or, at least, it would have been, if Michael Bay hadn't stolen the premise from another movie he thought none of us had ever heard of: Clonus: The Body Parts. And to be fair, nobody had heard of that movie, because look at it: that's a terrible name for a movie. Anyway, The Island is about Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson, and how they're actually clones living underground and will one day be used for spare organs by rich people. These handsome two find out what's going on, of course, and they escape on a journey of - literally - self-discovery. This is also the plot for Clonus. The guys behind Clonus weren't happy about this, and decided to sue Michael Bay, and listed 90 reasons why The Island was actually an unofficial remake of their far crappier movie. And the comparions - too many to be listed here (90, remember?) - definitely have grounds. An out of court settlement resolved the situation nicely, and now Clonus and its pretty mediocre "remake" are both out there for you to buy with your hard-earned cash. Yay?
