8 MCU Movies Better Than Avengers: Endgame

Of all the big questions people had going into Avengers: Endgame, one of the most pertinent was, 'will it be better than Infinity War?' Well, not quite.

Infinity War was a much more finely tuned adventure, which is surprising for a film that had more planet hopping and even more characters to balance than Endgame. It also had a smoother mix of comedy and drama, with the jokes in particular hitting the mark more frequently, and more naturally, thanks in large part to the always hilarious Guardians.

Furthermore, in Infinity War Thanos felt dangerous, undefeatable and one step ahead of the heroes, whereas in Endgame he never quite matches that same imposing aura. In fact he feels rather bland, and without the infinity stones, no more threatening than any other generic villain. A shame considering how much character work had gone into developing him in Infinity War.

Ultimately, Infinity War was surprising, different, devastating and hilarious whereas Endgame is rather predictable in its long strokes, despite a few smaller surprises and twists along the way. However, neither film can exist without the other, with both parts of the story complimenting on eanother rather than lessening either's impact.
