8 Moments We Need To See In MCU Phase 4

7. Nightmare To Exploit Doctor Strange's Emotions

It’s yet to be confirmed just which bad guys or gals the Sorcerer Supreme will be butting heads with in May 2021’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but one prime candidate to cause chaos for Stephen Strange would be Nightmare.

What makes Nightmare such a fantastic villain is the fact that his abilities are all centred around using people’s fears against them. Think of Scarecrow from the world of DC Comics, then amp his sadistic, evil antics up to 11.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Doctor Strange knew that the only way for the entire universe to survive would result in Tony Stark having to make the ultimate sacrifice. While it was clearly the right choice in the sense of one man’s life saves so many billions of others, it’s still something that might not sit too well with the Master of the Mystic Arts.

If we’ve got a Doctor Strange who’s wracked with guilt at Stark’s death, having Nightmare on the scene to poke and prod at those troubled feelings could make for some amazing moments - and add a new level of emotion to the often stoic Strange.
