8 Most Underrated James Bond Films

2. Quantum Of Solace

Tomorrow Never Dies Pierce Brosnan Michelle Yeoh
MGM

One of the most derided Bond films of all time, Quantum of Solace is... rock solid. Controversial, sure, but this film actually does quite a few things pretty well.

Daniel Craig is brilliant once again, the film's well-written if underused lead Bond Girl (Olga Kurylenko) is the most underrated Bond Girl in the franchise's history and some of the action, despite the horribly shaky cam, is actually pretty good, especially the terrific finale. As well as this, Quantum of Solace actually has some really effective emotional moments and it makes for a gently soulful action film with some very solid dialogue in there.

And yes, the editing sucks, the plot is a mess and the lead villain is so boring he'll have you nodding off, but had the film not been so completely and utterly screwed by the Writers Strike, this would probably have been a very good Bond film.

It is very flawed and there's no denying that it's a frustrating viewing since it followed Casino Royale and since there are many signs of the better film this could've been throughout. Still, it is a good Bond film, though a very, very long way from a great one, and it'd be nice if viewers recognized what it does right rather than just lament over what it could've been.
