8 Most Underrated Lord Of The Rings Characters
6. Lurtz
At first glance, this character seems like nothing more than a hulking brute for the Fellowship to take out. However, he's so much more than that. When you think about it, he's the first real adversary that the Fellowship had to contend with, as unlike the Nazgul or the Balrog, they were forced to stay and fight with him rather than fleeing.
Lurtz acted as the first leader of the Uruk-hai scouts and was an original creation for the movies. This was a great choice, as it gave the Fellowship a tangible villain to battle against and showed viewers the challenges their heroes would be facing.
In general, Lurtz captured everything you'd expect from an Uruk. He was imposing, terrifying and badass, giving viewers one of Aragorn's coolest kills as he pulled the future king's blade even further into himself after getting impaled by it.
As if that wasn't enough, this Uruk was even responsible for one of the most iconic deaths in all of cinema after he shot multiple arrows into Boromir. Unfortunately, when people think of LOTR enemies, they rarely think of him, and that's a shame.
