8 Most Underrated Lord Of The Rings Characters
7. Haldir Of Lothlórien
It's not uncommon for viewers of the LOTR trilogy to think of this character as "that elf who died during the battle of Helm's Deep". Technically, they are correct, as you're not given much of this elf up until his demise during this epic sequence. Yet still, his brave sacrifice and general presence deserve to be remembered better.
Haldir was a character who symbolised the coalition between elves and men. He first appeared to intercept the Fellowship as they fled from the Mines of Moria and entered Lothlórien. But, he then saved the day by reinforcing Helm's Deep with an army of elven warriors.
Although he didn't have much dialogue, his demise felt genuinely sad, as he left the comfort and security of his home behind to defend innocent people from the onslaught of the Uruk-hai. This elf died like a hero and deserves more love for that.
Plus, his slightly sassy personality also made him one of the more relatable elves in the series. He walked a fine line between overly stuck-up and down to earth, which helped him stand out.
