7. Curiously Positive Fantastic Four Review Declared Baffling
Little White Lies is the independent film magazine that was brave - or foolish - enough to do something no other publication would dare; they gave Josh Tranks Fantastic Four a really good review. In the opening paragraph the writer explains ...Fantastic Four is a really good film, shorn of glib know-all theatrics, faux profundity and the spangly CG thats usually ushered in as dramatic short hand for, we got nuthin. The reviewer goes on to explain how the film is superior to all the superficial nonsense by Marvel, and the review overall seemed to be a takedown of mainstream audiences than a genuine critique of Fant4stic. Even long-time readers of the magazine complained the review was way off-base, with one commenter writing bluntly I've only just gotten around to seeing the movie. Your taste is terrible. The movie was terrible. I cannot respect your opinion. That comment sums up the overall reaction to the review, which has now been removed from the website and is only available for subscribers to read. Hopefully it made Josh Trank feel a little better though.
