8 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming In 2019

5. The Angry Birds Movie 2

It's depressing to note that The Angry Birds Movie may be the single best video game adaptation ever made, but in a sub-genre populated by the likes of Assassin's Creed and Super Mario Bros, that's not as impressive a feat as it might seem.

The first movie made almost $350 million worldwide - which is nothing to sneeze at - and that gross makes this sequel a smart and logical choice.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 will feature several new creative players, including a fresh director (and co-director) and writer, with John Cohen returning as producer. But one thing that isn't clear is whether or not any of the original film's characters (and voice actors) will return.

The first starred Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph and Kate McKinnon, and these vocal talents were one of the biggest reasons the film worked so well, so it would be a shame to not see them utilised again.

Production is currently full-steam ahead so a casting announcement can't be too far off, but with a handful of new crew members working on the sequel, you can't help but wonder if they're going to shake things up in a big way.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
