8 Movies That Blurred The Line Between Our World And Theirs

This year saw the release of the fifth movie in the Scream franchise, coming 11 years after Scream 4. With the series having made a name for itself for meta-narratives and subverting expectations, it comes as no surprise that those behind it decided to have some fun with the marketing.

Months before the movie's release, a Facebook page was created titled 'Woodsboro Horror Film Club'. With the club having been introduced in-universe in the previous entry, this page acted as a way to bring the fictional world alive. Before long, postcards for the group were mailed out to members, promoting a new TikTok account run by the club's president.

Upon visiting the account, viewers were introduced to Sarah and Ash. These new characters were avid film lovers who found great pleasure in talking about horror, especially the fictional Stab series. Following a series of videos capitalising on TikTok trends, the two soon began to discuss the matter of a rumour currently circulating Woodsboro: Ghostface is back. While it may not have been intricate, the adopting of current trends and media nicely transitioned the series into modern day.
