8 Movies That Blurred The Line Between Our World And Theirs

4. Zoolander 2

Zoolander released in 2001 to a lukewarm critical response, though was met more favourably by moviegoers. It told the story of two air-headed male model rivals and a conspiracy to kill anyone in the industry above the age of 30. An over-the-top and extremely silly comedy, it may as well have had 'The Cult Classic' for a subtitle.

Fast forward 14 years to March 2015 and Paris Fashion Week is underway. As the Valentino runway show opens, on struts Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in character, walking with the determination seen only in the world's leading male models. Finishing the walk with a joint display of the iconic Blue Steel look, the two swagger off to thunderous applause.

Having Derek and Hansel appear at one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world was a stroke of genius, allowing the performers to briefly welcome the audience into their world. Vogue later uploaded a backstage talk with the characters on how they'd be approaching their walk on the runway, resulting in a fun and exciting way to announce the sequel. Of course, this goodwill only lasted until audiences got to see Zoolander 2.
