8 Reasons Why Frozen Is The Best Disney Film In A Generation
6. A Stage Musical-Themed Film
More than any other Disney film in recent years, Frozen has taken on the form and structure of a Broadway musical. This is emphasised in the sound of some of the tracks not only is the film set up as a stage musical, but the songs themselves use occasional themes similar to songs from other musicals. Rather than just plonking songs randomly into the film as it sometimes seems like in other films, the songs in Frozen are used to express the feelings of the characters in a way that simple conversations between characters wouldn't do. For example, Do You Wanna Build A Snowman shows Anna is longing to spend time with Elsa, and provides an interesting backdrop for the passage of time between their childhood and adult lives. It's of no surprise that Frozen is to be quickly adapted into an actual Broadway musical. In terms of structure there probably isn't a great deal of work that needs to be done to it you can certainly imagine Let It Go closing the first half of the musical before the interval in much the same way as Defying Gravity does so in Wicked.
