8 Reasons Why Frozen Is The Best Disney Film In A Generation

7. A Broadway-Style Voice Cast

Disney has always prided itself on having a wonderfully diverse voice cast. But with Frozen they wanted to push the envelope a little and introduce some vocal talent that had previously only really been seen on Broadway musicals. Sure, Idina Menzel has appeared in films such as Enchanted and of course as Shelby Corcoran in Glee €“ but you can't help but associate her with the role of Elphaba in Wicked. Of course, joining her from Glee is Jonathan Groff, who played Jesse St James, but he himself won a Tony Award nomination in 2007. These Broadway voice links are continued with Santino Fontana, who was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical only last year. Pretty much the exception to the Broadway scene is Kristen Bell as Anna, but the actress herself has a lot of voice-over experience from her work on Gossip Girl and of course the Assassins Creed video game series. The stand-out voice work in Frozen is Josh Gad as Olaf the snowman. It's the single best comedic voice work in a Disney animated film since Robin Williams as the Genie in Aladdin. Gad brings a warmth to the character, and an innocence to the film. He's been nominated for the Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Feature Production, and rightly so €“ it really is an excellent performance.

I'm a pop culture addict. Television, cinema, comics, games - you name it, and I've done it. Or at least read the plot synopsis on Wikipedia.
