8 Reasons Why DC Fanboys Are Jealous Of The MCU

5. Marvel Is Pushing Genre Boundaries

So far DC hasn't really had much of a chance to explore its own universe. Green Lantern and Man Of Steel may have ventured into space but a lot of the action was still confined to Earth. Batman v Superman looks set to be a pure superhero fightathon, which only leaves Suicide Squad to really stand on its own two feet and do something different. If there's one thing you can't accuse the Marvel Cinematic Universe of it's sticking to a formula. Okay, there's a bit of an action checklist that seems to dictate the third act but almost every one of Marvel's films has either dabbled in or dived straight into a differing genre that sets them apart from the traditional perception of a comic book movie. The Winter Soldier got Robert Redford aboard to form a legitimate political thriller, Ant-Man was a crime caper with a heart and Guardians of the Galaxy was a madcap sci-fi comedy. Regardless of the structures of the films there's no denying that Marvel is doing its best to push boundaries and expand the notion of just what exactly a superhero movie can be.
