8 Reasons Why Indiana Jones 5 Is (Probably) A Brilliant Idea

7. Disney Know What They're Doing

There was a period there in the mid-naughties where Disney weren't just off the boil, they were spilling tepid water all over cinema seats. The 90s Animation Renaissance felt like a lifetime ago, with all new projects incredibly insipid and no end to the conveyor-belt of cheap sequels, while their live-action works weren't much better; the only notable success was Pirates Of The Caribbean, and they wasted no time in running that franchise aground.

Enter Bob Iger. He took over as Disney's CEO in 2005 and completely course-corrected; John Lasseter was made head of the Animation arm and the company went about systematically buying up a whole host of existing properties it could expand upon; The Muppets, Marvel Cinematic Universe and, of course, Lucasfilm. And it worked; we're now in a third animation golden age (depending on how you count it), and each one of those franchises has gone to new heights - The Muppets was a felt-miracle, the MCU has gone from producing mid-range curiosities to become the dominating blockbuster franchise and Star Wars is Star Wars again.

So, on a corporate level, there's really nothing to worry about with Indy 5. Disney know what they're doing, and while Bob Iger can't personally make a great movie, he knows what allowances need to be made for a great movie to happen.
