It was an exceedingly promising development when DC announced that Shazam! was going to be one of their next films because it meant that for the first time ever, audiences were going to get to see this universe through the eyes of children.

Everything up until this point has been through the eyes of jaded, adult characters who are often cynical and even a bit narcissistic. But seeing Superman through Billy's eyes could imbue him with some of the traits he's been desperately missing; wonder and awe.

The most classic Superman comic runs, such as Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman, have always managed to capture and instill a sense of childlike wonder in the reader. Superman is an all-powerful alien from another planet who acts as a savior and protector of all things good, he should be something audiences are in awe of.
