8 Recent Box Office Bombs That Could Still Get Sequels

3. Star Trek Beyond

Star Wars Solo
Paramount

Budget: $185 million

Box Office: $343,471,816

A drop of over $120 million from Star Trek Into Darkness doomed Star Trek Beyond to financial failure. Initial plans for a sequel were put on hold due to Beyond's box office under performance meaning Paramount offered reduced salaries to key stars such as Christ Pine, who refused and exited the series.

Since then fans of the franchise have held tightly to hopes of a fourth installment directed by Quentin Tarantino who has admitted progress is being made on the film, and the chance to work with film legend Tarantino may bring back some actors who had left the project.

A Quentin Tarantino directed installment could therefore recharge this ailing franchises fortunes at the box office and given the general positive reception to all the films in the rebooted Star Trek series it is likely Tarantino would wish to keep the same actors on board.
