Batman, Superman, Aquaman and Wonder Woman could do nothing to save the box office bomb that was Justice League. Re-shoots and the changing of director from Zack Snyder to Joss Whedon doomed this film to major financial losses. However, there is still hope for a sequel.
Despite not having positive critical reception in its favour like Blade Runner 2049 or Star Trek Beyond, the demand for the Snyder cut of Justice League shows that this film has a fanbase that would show up at the cinemas for a sequel.
Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has also expressed interest in directing a sequel, which would hopefully be a better film both critically and commercially. If done well there are few reasons why a Justice League film could not reach Avengers numbers.
Whilst a Justice League sequel may take longer to happen than most sequels on this list due to cast and directorial changes it is clear the building blocks are being put into place with Wonder Woman 2 and Aquaman 2.
