8 Scenes We Definitely Won't See In James Wan's Aquaman

3. Aquaman's Octopus Butler

Aquaman Topo
DC Comics

In 1956, Aquaman gained a sentient octopus called Topo for his sidekick. Arthur Curry's tentacled friend initially served as his faithful underwater butler, but he wasn't exactly the deep-sea equivalent of Alfred Pennyworth.

During his In first appearance in A Day in the Life of Aquaman, Topo could be seen serving a gourmet meal to the Atlantean king, while rocking a black bow tie no less. Since the DC movies have been ridiculed enough, James Wan will probably leave this out of the Marine Marvel's solo debut, if he has any sense whatsoever.

Topo's other skills include archery and the ability to play multiple musical instruments at once, not that the latter is of much use when Black Manta threatens the seas.

In the Post-Crisis age, the creature was reimagined as a humanoid squid, and later a giant sea monster that Aquaman could summon with a special conch shell.

If an incarnation of Topo does end up appearing in James Wan's Aquaman, expect him to be closer to the sea monster version than the octopus butler.
