2. Hugo Weaving - V For Vendetta
Hugo Weaving was a late addition to V For Vendetta, having been brought on to replace actor James Purefoy, who played V for six weeks until disagreements between him and the director led to him leaving. Some claim Purefoy had a tough time acting behind a mask, where even his eyes were concealed. The role would be tough for any actor not least because V is hardly the most relatable of characters but if Weaving had any trouble it didnt show in his performance. His V is a supremely confident and verbose character, and Weaving uses his voice and body language to compensate for his lack of expression. Even when V is committing questionable acts and he commits plenty Weaving still manages to make the characters motivations somewhat relatable. Vs unique body language also comes into play during the fight scenes, where Vs twirling blades are used to devastating effect on any poor sod that comes against him.
