8 Things The Die Hard Movies Tell You About Christmas

6. Christmas Is The Perfect Cover For Nefarious Activity

John McClane just wants a normal Christmas - eggnog, a tree, a little turkey €“ but he always has to crawl through ventilation shafts, wondering how the same stuff can happen to the same guy twice. It turns out that whether the bad guys are planning to heist $640 million in negotiable bearer bonds or rescue a captured drug lord, they€™re going to use the festive season as cover for their escapades. They know that if they hit a skyscraper on Christmas Eve, the yuppies and blonde bimbos attending the party will be too coked up to care, and if target an airport in DC, then the head of security will be preoccupied by a reindeer flying in from a petting zoo (or something). The holiday shutdown also provides the perfect window of opportunity for bringing a South American General into the country to stand trial, which is presumably why there€™s no extra security at the airport and the bad guys are able to walk around unchallenged.
