8 Things The Die Hard Movies Tell You About Christmas

5. Bureaucrats Work Overtime During The Holidays

Like his brother Carmine, who heads the airport police, Sergeant Vito Lorenzo is a difficult man to please. Unimpressed by John McClane, even though he€™s not only a fellow cop but also a hero, and uninterested in showing him €œprofessional courtesy€, Vito goes out of his way to be mean and unpleasant, even towing away his car. In order for McClane to €œprove himself€ (and get his parking ticket torn up), he has to uncover a plot to rescue a deposed General, fight and kill multiple henchmen, reveal that Carmine€™s SWAT team are working with the villains and attempt (unsuccessfully) to stop them from crashing a plane. He also helps save the lives of hundreds of passengers when, after blowing up the bad guys€™ jet, he provides the circling liners with a landing light, thus saving the day for one and all. By this time, the body count is in 3 figures and all the Lorenzos did was to enforce petty bureaucracy, but it€™s the thought that counts.
