8 Things We Learned From The Lost Adventures Of James Bond Book

1. Sean Connery's Real Final Bond Outing

Tragically, Sir Sean Connery left us this past October at the age of 90. The first person to play James Bond on the big screen, Connery is viewed by many as the greatest ever 007.

Officially, Connery's time as Bond came to a close in 1983 with Never Say Never Again. In The Lost Adventures of James Bond, though, we find out that the iconic star actually reprised his 007 gig one final time 15 years later.

As detailed in Mark Edlitz's book, Sir Sean made a brief Bond return during the filming of 1998's The Avengers. That movie saw Connery devouring scenery as the nefarious August de Wynter, and it was as a surprise birthday treat for his co-star Ralph Fiennes that the Scot was convinced to once more get into James Bond mode.

For Fiennes' birthday, director Jeremiah S. Chechik asked Connery if he could possibly film a birthday message for his fellow actor. Not just any birthday message, of course, but one delivered as only Sir Sean Connery could - as James Bond.

By all accounts, not only did Connery say some of Bond's most beloved lines of dialogue during this birthday greeting, he actually performed them fully in character as 007.
