5. Isaiah Mustafa – Luke Cage
You may not know the name Isaiah Mustafa, but you’ve surely seen the Old Spice ads that made him famous. Turns out the dude is a huge comics nerd, with a real love for Luke Cage. He loves the character so much he self financed a photo shoot and a teaser trailer for a potential Luke Cage movie, to prove he had what it took to play the role.
He encouraged fans to pester Marvel about the notion, and they even seemed to take notice when Mustafa appeared in one of their online videos doing a dual Old Spice Guy/Luke Cage parody. When it came time to get serious about it maybe Marvel got cold feet, since they instead went for Mike Colter to play the character in Jessica Jones, The Defenders and – naturally – Luke Cage.
Still, at least Mustafa will always have the trailer to remember that brief time people took the idea of the Old Spice Guy seriously for a comic book movie.
