2. Roger Kerman
Roger Kerman is an American actor who has starred in over 100 porn films - most notably Debbie Does Dallas. But it is not his porn career we are interested in here - it's his services to Euro Cult classics. Yes, Kerman was the man to utter the immortal words "I wonder who the real savages are?" at the end of Cannibal Holocaust. In the film, he plays an Anthropology Professor who heads off to the Amazon to find out what became of a missing group of documentary-makers. He manages to ingratiate himself with the (rather understandably) hostile natives and retrieve the footage shot by the crew. Back to America he goes to view it - and what pleasant viewing it makes. Kerman must have liked his cannibal films because he had further roles in such flesh-munching antics as Eaten Alive! and Cannibal Ferox. Both are second-rate knock-offs of Cannibal Holocaust directed by Umberto Lenzi. I actually thought he was rather dashing in Eaten Alive!, although it is a profoundly silly film. He is about the best thing in it. Whilst filming the cannibal movies, Kerman was vehemently against the killing of animals (an unfortunate frequent occurrence in these films) and he actually stormed off-set whilst filming Cannibal Holocaust due to the gratuitous slaying of a coatimundi. Despite his Euro Cult stardom, Kerman continued to star in pornos. In the 1990s he sunk into alcoholism and cocaine addiction due to a dearth of film roles. He has picked himself up and now travels the world to fan conventions on the back of his work in cannibal films. A solid performer, he did his best with the often shoddy material he was given.
