8 Unintentionally Hilarious Horror Movie Endings
3. Stu And Billy Kill Each Other - "Scream"
Scream (1996) was Wes Craven's way of biting back at the previous decade's obsession with slasher flicks. A self-professed parody in its own right, Scream became an instant classic among horror fans and general cinema-goers alike.
The overarching premise of the film is that a masked killer is on the loose in a close-knit town and targeting high school students. The group of teenagers in question are trying their hardest to survive both the killer, and the ensuing madness that descends upon the town by the media frenzy. It is unclear throughout the majority of the film who the killer actually is, and the identity of whom is thrown about from person to person, depending on their alibi's and motives.
Once the final act of the movie ends, the identity of the masked ghost-face killer is revealed as none other than teenagers Billy and Stu. The reveal itself is not the funny aspect of this scenario, however the way in which the two deal with each other as both are dying from their injuries is where the humor manifests. Both of them are mortally wounded, yet still appear to have a knack of hurting each other even further, with Billy throwing a phone at Stu, and then eventually a TV falling on Stu's head!
To a certain degree, this moment was constructed to have an element of comedy weaved into it, but when you learn that half of the violence unscripted during this sequence, it begs the question as to how much comedy was meant to be in this final scene!
