8 Upcoming Movies No One Asked For (But Will Probably See)

1. Space Jam 2

The most recently announced entry on this list, Space Jam 2 is in motion. Plans for a follow-up to the 1996 film starring Michael Jordan alongside the Looney Tunes were officially announced by SpringHill Entertainment on Twitter in mid-September.

This was much to the delight of the 90's kids that dominate the social media platform. The original Space Jam is considered a classic among those whose most formative years aligned with Michael Jordan's NBA dominance.

Growing up sometimes means accepting harsh realities, one of which being Space Jam is not very good. The film is largely a cynical effort to get kids to buy toys and sneakers (on a personal note it worked. I owned an absurd amount of Space Jam toys, including the MJ Golf Doll. Not Basketball or even Baseball, but Golf). In truth, we could do without the shameless advertising in film.

Still, the sequel already has some heavy hitters behind it. Taking up the Jordan mantle, as often the case, is LeBron James. The debate on the better basketball player will likely never be resolved, but Lebron is clearly the superior actor, with amusing appearances in Trainwreck and this year's animated adventure Smallfoot. The King is clearly looking toward a career in Tinsel Town once his hardwood days are done.

Also in a producing role is Ryan Coogler. The Black Panther Director has not disappointed yet, also helming 2013's Fruitvale Station and 2015's Creed. It must say something that this is one of the first projects Coogler has signed on for since Black Panther's unprecedented success.

With Lebron's notorious desire to win and Coogler's talents, Space Jam 2 could be a satisfying outing for old fans and a proper introduction for new ones. Here's hoping we get another soundtrack.
