8 Worst And Most Desperate Movie Publicity Stunts Ever
4. See Paris Die! - House Of Wax
It’s safe to say the planet quickly got over it's brief obsession with Paris Hilton, with the fascination the once surrounded her having long since died out. It was already slipping in 2005, to the point that Warner Bros decided to use some of that hate to sell House Of Wax.
They advertised that her character died a horrible death in the movie, and even printed out t-shirts that read “On May 6th, Watch Paris Die.” Hilton herself apparently saw the funny side since she gave them permission to use it, and while the film suffered mixed reviews it actually did good business.
It’s hard to say if this upswing in ticket sales was just so people could see her die, but it probably didn’t hurt business either. In fact, there were reports of cheering and applause during some screenings when her death happens. That said the whole thing is kind of a disturbing way to sell something, and it's telling the movie didn't have much else worth talking about.
