Chris Hemsworth had a busy schedule to keep between 2015 and 2017, starring in such demanding films as Blackhat, Avengers: Age of Ultron, In the Heart of the Sea, The Huntsman: Winter's War and Thor: Ragnarok. This kind of work load would be impressive enough without the lengths he went to to make In the Heart of the Sea, but then you realise just how much he put into the film.

For his role as Owen Chase, the first mate of a ship which comes face-to-face with a ferocious sperm whale, the Aussie superstar lost 35 pounds to appear more like a 19th century sailor. In order to achieve this, he was put on a 500 calorie-a-day diet which he wittily referred to as his "lost at sea" diet.

Though he looked the part and was starring alongside the likes of Tom Holland and Cillian Murphy, the Ron Howard-directed picture ended up being fairly uninspired and forgettable.

Afterward, Hemsworth had to get his weight back quickly for his third solo outing as the God of Thunder, but based on how quickly he got back into shape, it's hard to imagine he feels all too bad about his previous weight loss.
