Elizabeth Berkley is a talented actress best known for her role on the sitcom Saved By The Bell. In the sitcom, she played the brainy and hilarious Jessie Spano, but when the show was cancelled, she decided she wasn't interested in leaning into her wholesome, family friendly image, and sought more mature, out the box roles to help her transition to the movies.

The role she landed was that of Nomi Malone, the protagonist of the plain-awful erotic drama Showgirls. It was a ballsy move to say the least, and not one that worked in her favour.

She may have been happy with the direction she had taken, and the fact that she beaten young hopefuls such as Charlize Theron to the role, but in the end the film tanked and then some.

With its uninspired story, over-indulgence in sex and nudity, the failure of Showgirls saw Berkley out of luck before her career had really gained any traction. She starred in a handful of films after '95, but none of serious merit, and she hasn't acted in a movie since 2011.
