4. Andie MacDowell - Greystoke
In her first film role, Andie MacDowell plays Jane opposite Christopher Lambert's Tarzan. She won the role over Glenn Close, by the way, which makes it all the more bizarre and cruel that in the final cut of the film, MacDowell's voice has been dubbed over by... Glenn Close? The filmmmaker's felt MacDowell's Southern drawl was too pronounced and that the character should speak with a more English-sounding voice, even though as a kid Jane spoke with an American voice and is referred to as American (not to mention that Glen Close is also American). Close was hurt that she lost the role and MacDowell was humiliated. Well, she would've been if Close hadn't insisted her re-dub went uncredited. That was big of her. MacDowell would go on to appear in Sex Lies and Videotape, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Groundhog Day and a bunch of dandruff commercials. All roles where her unique Southern twang helped cure our irritable scalps or melted our hearts. Either way, we were satisfied. You missed the steamboat, Greystoke.
