9 Awesome Remakes Of Terrible Movies

3. Captain America

Comic books had a famously rough time at the movies before their renaissance in the late nineties. Outside of Superman and Batman none of them had really worked, and poor Captain America had already been the victim of a couple of terrible TV movies in the seventies.

The Original: His treatment in the 1990 adaptation wasn’t a great deal better. The film was underfunded and lumbered with a terrible script, and director Albert Pyun was best known for cheap genre movies.

Lead actor Matt Salinger was epically miscast, the action scenes are embarrassingly lame and the cheapness of the production drags everything down.

The Remake: Marvel set out to right some wrongs with their own Captain America film. It was the spirited adventure with a perfectly cast Chris Evans and managed to reinvent what was seen as a lame character.

The Winter Soldier and Civil War would only improve on The First Avenger, which was pretty damn great to start with.
