9 Better Villains Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Should Have Used
8. The Skrulls
While predominantly associated with The Fantastic Four, Skrulls have been known to tangle with the Guardians from time to time and would be an awesome bunch of villains. These shifty shapeshifters would have been both visually impressive and be more than threatening enough to carry the mantle of lead villain.
This goes doubly if they had chosen to include Super-Skrull, the inventively named leader of the Skrulls whose abilities include the ability to take on the powers of heroes around him. In a movie as self-referential as Guardians, this could definitely lead to some pretty hilarious breaks in the action as Star-Lord mopes about not being mimicked.
This would also provide a more interesting spin on Marvel movies’ love affair with alien armies. At least a screen full of Skrull would be more interesting to look at than mind-numbing waves of cut-and-paste Chitauri.
The appearance of Skrulls is not entirely out of the realms of possibility, with James Gunn himself commenting on their potential inclusion stating on Twitter that:
“Some specific Skrulls are at Fox. But the Skrulls as a whole are co-owned.”
Sadly, despite this exciting insight into the swirling mess that surrounds Marvel's character rights, they won’t be featured in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
