9 Blatant Lies Filmmakers Told To Keep Their Movies Unspoiled
4. Ridley Scott Said The Alien Wouldn't Appear In Prometheus
Prometheus started life as a direct prequel to the original Alien before morphing into something else. It exists in a sort of hazy middle ground where it technically is a prequel but it doesnt really set up anything seen in the original. One of the reasons returning director Ridley Scott was so keen on turning it into something new was so he didnt have to use the Alien creature again, as hed felt the beast had been overexposed and was no longer terrifying to audiences. He came up with some new creatures (squirmy octopus thing, slithery snake thing etc.) and swore that the xenomorph would not be appearing in the film at all. But in a moment that feels like it was shot just to appease fans a redesigned Alien does appear in the very last scene. The Deacon creature is a snazzy resign of the original xenomorph, with a sharp point at the back of the head and protruding jaws instead of a tongue. The poor chap doesnt get to do much but it was nice to see him return no matter how brief. Maybe the sequel(s) will find a use for him.
