9 Classic Movies With Insane Unofficial Sequels
6. Road To Hell (AKA Streets Of Fire 2)
Walter Hill’s Streets Of Fire is an underrated cult gem, and basically combines a noir gangster film with a rock and roll musical. It was originally meant to be a trilogy, but the underperformance of the original put those plans on ice.
That didn't stop Streets Of Fire megafan and bad movie maestro Albert Pyn from making a homage/sequel with Road To Hell, where original lead Michael Pare returns to find his long lost daughter. The movie was shot in less than a week against greenscreen, and boy does it show. The whole thing feels cheap, ugly and rushed, and any fans of the original will be put off by their hero being turned in an unlikable, murdering psychopath.
The movie even covers the songs used in the original, but with all the flair of someone performing drunk karaoke. It’s an interesting experiment no doubt, but nobody should rush to see it either.
