9 Comic Book Movies That Divided Critics And Fans
1. Suicide Squid
The “We make movies for fans!” argument trotted out for Batman V Superman returned in full force for Suicide Squad, which was quickly roasted over a fire in the reviews. The movie has a good few problems like choppy editing, a crap villain and a confused tone, but it was an improvement by virtue of not being a total slog to sit through.
Fans of DC’s cinematic universe got really angry with the suggestion the movie didn’t work, openly attacking critics and accusing them of being paid off. One fan even launched a petition against Rotten Tomatoes, but after a bit more research into the matter, they quickly withdrew it.
The poor reviews didn’t prevent the movie being a massive success, but Warners will likely take corrective steps for the next few movies to ensure they appeal to both fans and critics; alternately, they could just make good movies and let them speak for themselves.
