9 Female DC Superheroes Who Also Deserve Solo Movies
1. Batwoman
We've already got Batman in this universe with Batgirl already on her way too, so why do we need a Batwoman, you ask? Whilst she owes her existence to The Caped Crusader, Kate Kane is a fascinating character in her own right. A wealthy heiress and daughter of a colonel, she was inspired by Batman to use her military training to fight crime on the streets of Gotham.
With her father acting as her Alfred of sorts, training her and providing her with military technology, Batwoman has proven herself a standout in the already crowded Bat Family.
Introducing Batwoman into the DCEU would also mark a new milestone for superhero movies: the first with a gay lead. Kate's sexuality isn't a major factor in her crime-fighting but it is in her personal life, and to explore those themes in a major blockbuster would be as big a step forward for inclusivity in the genre as Wonder Woman is now.
You could maybe introduce her first in The Batman or Batgirl to test her out with audiences, but sooner or later Batwoman definitely deserves her own solo movie to fully explore her character and history.
Kate Kane hasn't made too many appearances in other media, but your best bet there is to check out the animated film Batman: Bad Blood. Mystery of the Batwoman is also a decent straight-to-video flick, but it presents its own original take on the character that is interesting but has nothing to do with Kane. But Batwoman has several solo comic series since she was revamped in the 2000s, so pick up those runs if you want to see the character in her purest form.
