From Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger, to Deep Blue Sea and The Long Goodnight, to A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and the infamous dud that was Cutthroat Island, it's fair to say that director Renny Harlin has quite the colourful résumé.

One of the more recent movies on the Finnish filmmaker's CV, is 2013's The Dyatlov Pass Incident, aka Devil's Pass. Exploring the very real mystery of the death of nine hikers in 1959, Harlin's picture takes that situation and adds a whole bunch of insanity to this topic. And by 'whole bunch of insanity', that means time travelling and mutants.

Here, we have five American students heading to the snowy Russian mountains where the '59 disaster took place. On a mission to unravel the strange disappearances of decades past, things go majorly awry when three of the students end up dead - and the other two find themselves left with quite the pickle.

After being attacked by deformed mutants, the pair are stuck in a tiny cave-set bunker. With snarling beasts outside the door, in freezing, foodless conditions the duo of Jensen and Holly are confronted with only one option: to walk through a wormhole that's presented itself to them in said bunker.

Upon doing so, the pair are sent back in time to 1959, where it's revealed that their time-travelling has caused them to mutate. And yes, we then get the reveal that the mutated Jensen and Holly are the one and the same mutants seen tormenting their future selves decades later.
