9 Horror Movies Everyone Remembers For One Scene

1. Psycho - The Shower Scene

Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho is the most influential horror movie ever made.

Widely credited with being the first ever slasher movie, it also set a new bar for the ways in which movies depicted violence and sexuality, as well as serving as a glowing example of Hitchcock's immeasurable film-making talent.

Psycho tells the story of Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), a desperate woman who embezzles a large sum of money from her employer before leaving town. Crane stops in at the Bates Motel to rest for the night, where she meets the motel's proprietor, Norman Bates.

Marion's end is one of cinema's most well-known, iconic scenes. Famous for being the first movie scene to show a toilet being flushed, it's also unforgettable due to Janet Leigh being stabbed to death mid-shower.

While Psycho will undoubtedly be remembered forever (and not just for the toilet thing), it's this scene that has resonated throughout the horror genre - and pop culture - in the 60 years since its creation.
