9 Incredible Movie Scenes Let Down By Awful Acting
3. Inglourious Basterds - Bear Jew Baseball Bat
Quentin Tarantino films have always had such unique scripts and characters; between long conversations that go nowhere and characters so flamboyant and animated they could have been ripped straight from a cartoon, it's fair to say the infamous writer isn't short of some truly special characters under his sleeve.
In a gut-busting scene in Inglorious Basterds, two SS Officers are interrogated by the titular Basterds in the woods. The interrogation doesn't go well, and escalates to a baseball bat wielding Eli Roth beating the officer to death to the delight of the Basterds.
The scene is tense; only the knocking of a bat in the dark empty tunnel can be heard before Donny "The Bear Jew" emerges. The officer keeps his jaw stiff, right until the point where Eli Roth is smashing his skull in. What follows is off kilter though-
The Bear Jew opens his mouth. A lot. And while we could amount this to QT not restraining himself with dialogue, Eli Roth's delivery of a baseball monologue feels like his first ever attempt at a Brooklyn accent. Eli Roth isn't the bets actor, and giving him lines wasn't the best move to make by QT.
