9 Incredible Movie Scenes Let Down By Awful Acting
2. The Social Network - Eduardo Confronts Mark
Making a movie about the birth of Facebook seem interesting is a tough job no matter what. And even if half the events in The Social Network didn't actually happen, it is still a well-crafted film with tension building relationships throughout.
One scene in particular really shows some of the actors at their highest. Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield) confronts Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) about his shares in Facebook being diluted down to less than one percent in an explosive moment that flips the table and shows Zuckerberg's true colours- just like in real life?
The third party in the room, played by Justin Timberlake supports. As Sean Walker he plays an entitled bully; mocking Eduardo from over his shoulder as he tearfully berates Zuckerberg, Garfield is on point in this scene too; and no doubt the focus of David Fincher's attention when it was shot.
It's Jesse who lets the scene down. We've come to know Jesse Eisenberg as a man with very few facial features, and in this scene he decides to use none of them in one of the most crucial moments in the film. With Garfield displaying betrayal, Timberlake putting on smug, what is Eisenberg doing in this scene? Flustered?
