9 Movie Mad Scientists That Might Have Been Onto Something

2. Jurassic Park - Mammoth Mountain?

We all know that life, uh, uh (uh, uh, uh), finds a way, so how would you feel about owning your very own wooly mammoth? It would be a great form of transportation and just think of all the jumpers you could knit from its fur.

Anyway, even if resurrecting the dinosaurs has so far evaded scientists, we could be very close to bringing the wooly mammoth back to life. This is arguably better, seeing as they're less likely to try and chase you down and eat you while you're on the crapper.

Due to the recent discoveries of amazingly well-preserved mammoths in the permafrost of the arctic tundra (one of which was so well preserved that it oozed fresh blood and one of the researchers took a bit out of it, yum), some scientists reckon that we could be only a couple of years off bringing the mammoth back to life. If were were able to clone the mammoth DNA and implant it into the DNA of a modern elephant, it could be implanted into a surrogate elephant mother.

However, just as in Jurassic Park, the scientists know that they could clone a mammoth, but are currently battling with the moral dilemma of whether they should. Would there be a benefit to bringing back a creature that is demonstrably unsuited to live on the modern-day Earth (you know, what with it having gone extinct and all)?
