9 Most Badass Elder Masters In Martial Arts Movies

2. Mr. Miyagi - The Karate Kid (1984)

Being the new kid in town is hard, especially when that town is 1980s karate-crazed Los Angeles. It was a tough town, man. No friends around, no reputation to fall back on. Luckily for newcomer Daniel Larusso, he finds a friend in oddball and well-mannered Mr. Miyagi, the building's handyman. But there is much more to Mr. Miyagi than meets the eye, a hidden strength that will help Larusso through difficult times when confronted by local bully Johnny Lawrence and his gang of goons.

Acting both as a sensible sensei and an inspiring father-figure, Mr. Miyagi takes Daniel-san under his wing and imparts wisdom on various matters regarding life and karate. Who would say that painting fences and waxing cars could be so meaningful? Unfortunately, the conflict with the bullies escalates out of proportion, to the point of getting a local karate tournament involved. What about contacting the school authorities, sensei? No good, Daniel-san, let's kick some ass.

Miyagi's badass attitude shines brightest during the final moments of the movie, when unhinged Cobra Kai sensei, John Kreese, loses control of himself and attacks his own students. Honk, honk! And mercy is for the weak! 'Memba those?
