James Bond is all about the suits, the gadgets and the women, but he'd be nothing without his signature car. In particular, Bond has always been deeply connected to the latest and greatest Aston Martins, with the DB5 especially cropping up in a whole host of his earlier movies. Not only did it give the character a signature ride, but the popularity of the franchise itself and the association with it even helped the manufacturer avoid going under.

A Bond film without the DB5 or a variant has never really felt like a proper Bond movie, and the original car even made a return in 2012's Skyfall, acting as a great nostalgia trip for fans wanting to see Daniel Craig's incarnation etch ever closer to the glory years of Sean Connery and Roger Moore.

While it's such a powerful symbol of everything Bond stands for, though, it actually took the spy a little while to settle on the car as his vehicle. In fact, it wasn't until the third instalment, Goldfinger, that he began the longest running relationship he's had with anyone or anything.
