The Character - James Bond

A gadget-loving, womanising super-spy as deadly with quips and seductive one-liners as he was with his trusty Walther PPK. Sure, he was a bit of a caricature even in the Sean Connery days, but he was very much the head of a beloved brand.

But In THIS Movie

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a great film and arguably the purest adaptation of any James Bond book, but it cut out way too much of the pillars of the character that fans had come to love, to its cost.

In it, Bond doesn't sleep with the Bond girl, he gets married, and his gadgets and quirks have been consciously downplayed as Saltzman and Broccoli tried to focus on a more serious product. Combining that with a n unfairly undr-appreciated performance by George Lazenby and it just doesn't feel like "real Bond" of the time.
