9. Bad Taste (1987) - Alien Barf

New Zealand sicko horror fare which is Peter Jackson's first film. A bunch of aliens have landed in a small New Zealand village, and they have harvested the locals as food to take home. It's up to the 'Boys', a four man paramilitary unit to stop them. Bad Taste is good fun, but it does, as its title suggests, contain moments of extreme bad taste which are just there to add to the humour and add to the provocative and disgusting factor. I think in his early career, Jackson positively loved to disgust and provoke people - look at the AIDS ridden rabbit in Meet the Feebles and the lawn mower massacre in Brain Dead - both thoroughly revolting. There are plenty of disgusting moments in Bad Taste - brains being eaten by a flock of seagulls, brains being eaten by aliens (literally scooped out of the skull) - but the grossest moment comes when one of the boys infiltrates the alien invader community and is treated to a ritual bowl of alien vomit. He has to drink along with them so that his cover is not blown and the sequence is yuck yuck yuck "Ooh I got a crunchy bit!". If my memory serves me right, I think the human guy even enjoys it! The most disgusting moment of a thoroughly disgusting film. But great fun.
