9 Possible Characters Willem Dafoe Will Play In Justice League

It just doesn't seem quite right for someone as naturally villainous as Willem Dafoe to play a straight-up good guy, especially in a universe that leaves so much room for the wavering of morals and shifting alliances.

That face cannot remain completely untouched by evil!

So maybe the whole "good guy" assertion is a red herring, with Dafoe's character in the mold of Iron Man's Obadiah Stane, someone who initially acts the part of a hero - or at least, an assistant to other heroes - while obviously hiding a rather unsavory agenda.

Maxwell Lord is nothing if not a greedy opportunist, and although he initially organized the Justice League International, Lord is at best an amoral businessman, and at worst a saboteur with way too much knowledge of JLI's inner workings.

That would play up real nice in Zack Snyder's "Murderverse." By the second half of the movie, he will have killed off a member of the team in secret (Blue Beetle, if we're staying true to the comics) before aligning himself with Darkseid and using his mind control to turn Superman against the rest of his compatriots.

We already know Snyder likes the idea of Superman as a "bad guy," so why not give him the built-in excuse of "mind control made me do it!"
