9 Predictions By Sci-Fi Movies That Eerily Came True

6. Video Calling And Smart TVs (Back To The Future Part II)

Time travel might never become a reality, self-drying jackets haven't been invented and the double-tie look isn't going to catch on, but Back To The Future Part II was right on the money with some of its other predictions.

Take that scene where future Marty holds a video call with his boss Needles via his TV. This was high science fiction when the film came out in 1989, but now it's commonplace thanks to services such as Skype and its competitors.

The likes of FaceTime and Skype are available to virtually everyone in the developed world, and for many households, the platform of choice is the connected television.

Great Scott, Back To The Future Part II hit the nail on the head with this one. Perhaps it can be forgiven for its shout about the fax machine still being widely used in 2015.
