9 Predictions By Sci-Fi Movies That Eerily Came True

2. Robot Vacuum Cleaners (Jetsons: The Movie)

Minority Report
Hanna-Barbera Productions

Hanna-Barbera animation The Jetsons was originally a satire about the 'gee-whizz' view of the future and the advancements it promised, but when the show came to the big screen in 1990, it had already made a string of prophetic predictions about it.

One of its more astute forecasts is the rise of robot vacuum cleaners. They didn't exist when the show debuted in the 1960s, nor were they around when the film hit cinemas, but as of last year, 23% of all vacuum cleaners are robots, and they're getting smarter.

The Jetsons also predicted the flat-screen TV, Skype, talking alarm clocks and dog treadmills. The more time that passes, the more prophetic the show looks, so don't be surprised if flying cars and sky-high cities eventually become a reality too.
